The Heritage Committee provides a source of expertise on heritage matters and advises Foundation Board on matters relating to the heritage of anaesthesia. The committee is responsible for delivering heritage activities to ensure the preservation and development of the AAGBI’s heritage collections.
Additionally the committee seeks to educate and inform professionals and the public about the history of anaesthesia seeking relevant and innovative means of communicating to the widest audience.
It provides a link with other national and international bodies engaged in the study of the history of medicine, in particular the history of anaesthesia. Examples would include the History of Anaesthesia Society, the Anesthesia History Association, and the London Museums of Health and Medicine.
"The AAGBI is the guardian of the heritage of anaesthesia and continues to record and collect aspects of our specialty's history"
Dr Richard Griffiths
Chair of The Heritage Committee
