The anaesthesia library

The anaesthesia library contains rare books, complete sets of Anaesthesia and the British Journal of Anaesthesia, historic pamphlets, technical literature and audio-visual material.

The library developed from the collections of Dr K Bryn Thomas, A Charles King and Dr J Alfred Lee. It has expanded over the years through purchases and donations. The books and pamphlets in the library contain information on a range of subjects relating to the work of anaesthetists.

The library does not include modern journals and pamphlets but concentrates on the history of anaesthesia, pain relief and resuscitation.

Literature in the library can help to date new museum acquisitions and technical literature can be used to explain museum exhibitions.

The library also holds oral history recordings. Further information »
