Oral History Interviews

For some years the Heritage Centre has been collecting oral histories from notable anaesthetists. Initially this was carried out in conjunction with Oxford Brookes University, but more recently the interviewers have been our volunteers who have been trained by the British Library and Oral History Society.

Recently, we have interviewed several military anaesthetists as part of the World War One project. Doctors who served in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan have taken part and discussed their experiences and the developments in patient care they were involved in. Snippets and recordings of oral history interviews are available online. If you would like a transcription of any interview, please contact us.
