Independent Practice Committee
The Independent Practice Committee (IPC) exists to support the Members of the AAGBI who are engaged in independent anaesthetic practice and to consider all matters relating to it. The committee consists of the Executive and designated members of Council, as well as co-opted members from the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. There is also a co-opted member who is in full time private practice. The committee is represented on the Board of the Federation of Independent Practitioner Organisations (FIPO) and on the Private Practice Committee of the BMA. The IPC usually meets twice a year and also meets representatives of the Private Medical Insurers (PMIs) and Private Hospitals whenever required. The members of the committee attend meetings organised by other bodies related to the independent practice.
