This one day seminar will update the delegate on the current consensus management of patients requiring both elective and emergency colorectal surgery. For the patient requiring elective surgery, advances in prehabilitation and enhanced recovery techniques will be discussed. For the emergency patient, data from the national emergency laparotomy (NELA) audit project will be discussed, as well as the implications. The different pain strategies will also be discussed. All speakers are national experts in their fields. The seminar aims to add to delegates understanding of the similarities, but more importantly the differences between the management of patients requiring anaesthesia for both elective and emergency colorectal surgery.
