AAGBI statement to BMA Junior Doctors' ballot outcome

AAGBI notes the remarkable result of the ballot and acknowledges the extraordinary strength of feeling this represents.  We remain opposed to Government attempts to impose rather than negotiate changes in doctors’ contracts.  We call on the Secretary of State to listen and respond to the legitimate concerns of our members, particularly those women doctors working less than full time whilst bringing up children, who will be hit disproportionately hard by his changes, so increasing the gender pay gap. To all parties, the AAGBI says it is not too late to avoid industrial action. We call on both sides to set aside ALL pre-conditions and return to the negotiating table.
